Our class made the Coastal Courier
Our school was recognized for a being a model school on Wednesday! Our class is going to be featured in the Coastal Courier newspaper on October 28th. Please check it out! Some of our students were photographed and I know of a least one picture of our class is in it. Way to go Taylors Creek! I was so proud of my students! They did such an awesome job!

Pumpkin Book Character Decorating Contest
Each class was given a pumpkin to decorate representing a book character. Our class did the book "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves." Check out our pumpkin character, as well as many more, in the media center during our Fall Festival. Don't forget to vote for our class pumpkin so we can win the contest. Remember to be on the look out for Brownie!
Brownie our class gopher, will be visiting a different home each night. Your child will write and draw a picture of something that Brownie did while he was visiting. Brownie will come with a paper to write/draw and an instruction page on what to do. We will be combining each child's writing to form a book all about Brownie's Adventures. Thanks for your help and be on the look out!

Up-Coming Events
Kindergarten Field Day will be on Wednesday May 4, 2011 beginning at 8:00 and ending at 11:00. Please come out and join us for these fun-filled activities. Remember that this event will be outdoors, so please put on bug spray and sun tan lotion at home if you would like. Students are permitted to bring drinks/juice that day. No sodas please. Please beaware that we do have a four day weekend coming up. Enjoy your break!

The Statue of Liberty
After learning about American symbols, our class focused on the Statue of Liberty. We made crowns and pretended to be the Statue of Liberty. The United States of America recieved this statue on it's 100th birthday. It stands for liberty, justice, and freedom for all.

Class Pictures and Individual Pictures
Class picture day is Wednesday so boys get your haircuts now and girls start to decide on your hair-do. Don't forget to take a bath, brush your teeth, and comb your hair. We will be taking class pictures in our school uniforms. Individual pictures are Thursday and you may dress down for that picture on Thursday. Say "CHEEEEESE!"

Ice Cream Shop
After learning about pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, we turned our classroom into an ice cream shop. The students were given coins and had to pick their toppings off of a menu. The students then had to count their money to purchace their orders based on the menu prices. The orders were then turned in and the students ate their delicious ice cream sundaes. Great job!!!

Career Day
Our class went to Career Day in the gym. We talked with policemen, army men and women, a scientist, a banker, a car salesman, and many more. We enjoyed seeing and petting the horses at the cowboy booth.
