Congratulations TCE

Congratulations TCE! We are excited to share that Taylors Creek is in the top 5% of Georgia schools with High Performance. Yesterday, the Georgia Department of Education released the list of high performing schools called "Reward Schools." TCE made the list! Way to go TCE! To celebrate, tomorrow our students will be able to dress down and receive an extra recess!

Attention parents! Don't forget to come out on Friday to our Fall Fest from 4:00 to 6:00. We are also having a pumpkin contest. Each class took a pumpkin and turned them into a book character. Don't forget to check our class pumpkin out. We chose the book "Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog." Vote...Vote...Vote!

Congratulations Dr. Rodriguez

Congratulations Dr. Rodriguez on being chosen as the National Distinguished Principal for the state of Georgia! We are so proud to have her as the Principal of Taylors Creek Elementary! She will be flying to Washington, D.C. tonight. We celebrated today as she drove past the bus ramp as we cheered her on! Way to go Dr. Rodriguez!

Picture Retakes

Picture Retakes will be on Monday. This is not a dress down day. Students who are taking pictures can bring clothes to change for the picture, but they will have to change back in to their uniform after the picture. Apple Day

We learned about Johnny Appleseed. We counted paper seeds and glued them on a paper apple cut out. We took a survey whether we liked green, red, or yellow apples best and made a graph showing our results. We also cut those three types of apples up, ate them, and drank apple juice. What a day!

J.A.M. World Record

Our class participated in the J.A.M. World Record of having students stop and exercise for about 1 minute at the same time. Way to go class!

Picture Day August 28th

Picture day is on August 28th. Please remember that students do not have to wear school uniforms on this day, but they still must abide by the dress code policy. For example: no flip flops or open toed shoes. So don't forget to brush your teeth and comb your hair. We want to look sharp for our picture for the yearbook! Say "cheese!"

Computer Centers

The computers are used for Math Centers, as well as phonics/reading centers. The students enjoy reviewing and practicing skills that they have learned. Some of the websites you may want to check out at home are www.internet4classrooms.com,www.cookie.com, and www.johnnysmathpage.com. A good phonics website would be www.starfall.com. All of these websites are free and are accessible at home.

Math Center-Farm

This is our farm math center. The students are to pull out a number card and then make a fence putting that corresponding number of animals in the pen. What an exciting way to practice our number recognition and counting!

We ate a Worm

After reading the story "I ate a Worm", our class tried to eat worms too. Gross! (It was only a gummy worm!) We had a great time with this story!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day from our class to you!
Congratulations to Mr. Cooke's class for participating in the Science Fair. We had three small groups entered. Congratulations Erica, Noah, Lei'Ona, Michael, and Hailey on winning first place for kindergarten. They discovered what would happen if we stuck a pencil in a balloon. Way to go!

Skidaway Island

Our field trip to Skidaway Island was a lot of fun! We had such a wonderful time being able to touch different sea animals and seeing the fish. This is a picture of our class sitting on the steps in the aquarium.

The Lorax came to visit T.C.E.

The Lorax character from the Dr. Suess books came to visit our school. We learned about how to keep our planet clean by recycling. The students got to play different games using recyclable materials. Michael and Franchesca raced with other students trying to build a tower out of cans.

Kindergarten Program

All of the kindergarten classes will be presenting a program on Friday March 23. The program will begin at 1:00. Please try to make plans to come be with us! Our class will be wearing khaki bottoms with green shirts. I have already purchased the green shirts. The cost of each shirt is $1.00. The students will wear their uniform shirt that day and change into the green shirt for the program. Hope to see you there!

We celebrated reading across America this week. To inspire reading, the media center had a book mark decorating contest. Congratulations Jordyn for being picked as the overall winner for kindergarten. Way to go!!!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

We ate green eggs and ham and little oreo top hats to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss! He is the author of many different books including "The Cat in the Hat" and "The Lorax."

Michael Douglas from the Harlem Globe Trotters


Michael Douglas came to visit our school. We had an assembly where he encouraged the students to do their best and be successful. He told us to set a goal and accomplish it and do not let obstacles get in our way. Thanks Michael Douglas!
